Carolyne,
Linda, Damon & Lalena |
Damon
& Linda invited us to stay with them in their 'cabin' in the mountains
on the west side of Denver. The area is in the National Forest as a respite
for some who lost facilities on leased property damaged by fire. They
rebuilt a mighty fine place with many more 'conveniences' than their neighbors
have. Things like indoor bathrooms, running water and heating systems.
Here you see Linda & Carolyne contemplating a lovely dinner prepared
by Linda. |

Here
you see one of the Damon-Ferris' friends
between me on the left and Linda on the right
in their kitchen. |

This
is the obligatory group photo excluding Carolyne, the designated photographer. |

Upon
leaving Colorado, Lalena (below) was fascinated with the west Texas landscape
and history. She had us chase down various 'points
of interest' including this oil rig. |
|
She
was also fascinated with the tumble weeds, as I have been as well. |
|
To
Carolyne and my huge discomfort, because of traffic through the DFW area,
Lalena insisted that we visit the Cockroach Museum in Dallas. This guy
made probably a small fortune first offering $1000 for the largest cockroach
in the area. He parlayed that into a spot on the Carson show and ultimately
spokesman ship for one of the pest control companies. |
|
He solicited displays in multiple cities using roaches as the focus, providing prizes for the best entries. This one, if you can make it out is 'Liberoachi'. Ha ha ha! |
|
Here 'Marilyn Monroach' steals the show. Besides another brief visit with the Curran's, the rest of the trip was simply driving down I-45 back to Houston. |
